Les Augerelles, near Fontenay le Comte, This holiday home comprises of a pretty stone built Cottage clad with a creeper, small gated front garden and large rear gardens enclosed, secure, child and dog proof. With a Pool plus a gîte (detached from main house) similarly stone built and creeper clad. Situated just a few minutes drive from the renaissance town of Fontenay le Comte on the edge of the Marais Poitevin, views overlooking 200 hectares of unspoilt land in a small quiet hamlet. The Cottage sleeps 7/9 in 3 bedrooms and the 1 bedroomed gîte sleeps 2/4. Sleeping 9/13 in total. Let as one 4 bedroom unit in Peak Season.

Location
Both properties overlook the 200 hectares of grassland. Situated on the border of the southern Vendee and the Poitou-Charante in one of the sunniest areas of France, 2000hrs + on average per year
Activities include walking, boating, fishing, bird watching, horse riding, go-carting and during the summer and early autumn there are many local fetes and fairs. There are countless bars, restaurants to suit everyone’s pocket.
The countryside around Les Augerelles is ideally suited to easy walking and cycling the Mervent forest and Vouvant will suit the more dedicated enthusiast.
In the heart of arable land the fields are a wash with crops of sunflowers, maize and cereals, the sunflowers in the early/mid summer are most pleasing to the eye.
Just a short drive is the Venice Vert where you can find an idyllic setting for fishing, walking or just visiting a bar and watching the world pass by. You can hire small boats, with or without a guide, and punt your way around the small canals and tributaries. It is truly picturesque picture postcard scenery.
You are on the border of the Marais Poitevin, boasting many nature reserves ideal for the wild life enthusiasts and bird watchers amongst you.
The glorious, long, award winning sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast are just 40 mins. away as is the delightful port of La Rochelle which boasts probably some of the best seafood restaurants around and is steeped in local history. There is also a massive indoor aquarium which is well worth a visit
A little further a field you can take comfortable day trips to Futuroscope, Puy du Fou, the best kept secret in France and the brandy houses of Cognac
