Location
Blue Anchor Bay is a very quiet and peaceful place where you feel you have gone back in time.
Sitting on the Bristol Channel you can see the Welsh coastline to the north and it is nestled between Exmoor, the Brendon Hills and The Quantocks.
From here there are wonderful walks either along the beach, through the countryside or on the cliff tops.
The West Somerset Steam Railway passes through and Blue Anchor has its own Station. There are several Steam Fayres throughout the year.
You can fish from the sea wall or the beach and catch prawns in the rock pools at the eastern end of the bay.
There are two pubs in Blue Anchor. The Smugglers does wonderful food and is an exceptionally good pub with an open fire burning in the winter. You can visit their website at smugglers.take2chefs.co.uk. You can enjoy the wonderful views across the bay from the Blue Anchor Inn’s garden and watch amazing sunsets with a sundowner.
Minehead is just along the coast and has all the fun of a holiday resort, together with good shopping, harbour, twice weekly general market and a Farmers Market every Friday selling local produce.
Watchet is just 2 miles east of Blue Anchor and is a quaint little town with its own Marina.
Dunster is closeby and is a medieval village with a beautiful castle.
Exmoor is on our doorstep with its breathtaking scenery and National Trust villages.
Also within an hours drive are Porlock Village, Lynton & Lynmouth and the Quantock Hills.
