Bedrooms / Bathrooms
Access to the first floor of our holiday cottage in the new forest is via the staircase on the left of the dining area, which leads up to the landing for bedrooms three and four. The staircases feature cast iron railings which have been salvaged from the original stable block. The first floor has high, vaulted ceilings throughout, featuring original round windows and conservation velux skylights giving an airy feel to the bedrooms and landings.
Bedroom 4 is a comfortable double room, with windows front and rear. Both single beds are 3`. Bedroom 3 has a 4`6" double bed. Also leading off the landing is the bathroom for these two bedrooms, featuring bath with shower over, hand basin and w.c.

Living Areas
The split level lounge area with large open fire and exposed beams is now open, with seating, stereo and tv etc for guests. Measuring a huge 38ft x 15.5ft this room can take 28 guests without too much trouble! Up the four full-width steps to the top end there is access to the dining room and kitchen. The fireplace is at this end and can be used in winter months.
The bottom end of the lounge offers access to the lower end bath and shower rooms and bedrooms.
In the middle of the lounge is the original stable door, now refurbished, offering access outside. There are six sofas in total in the lounge, along with other seating (indluding chairs and a church pew!) to accommodate guests.
The Lounge area has windows and skylights to allow light in - the windows around the upper level door and the door itself are also original and refurbished. Reclaimed floorboards have been used for the entire room

Kitchen / Dining
Walking through the front door of this large holiday cottage in the forest, we enter the large open plan dining/kitchen area and there are places for up to 28 guests (extra table is set up for bookings over 20).
This large dining and kitchen area is approximately nine and a half metres by over 5 metres - a very big communal area which is ideal for one or two families or large groups to dine together.
Walking through the kitchen area on the left, we have the Utilitly room, which contains another sink, another fridge/freezer and the washing machine. Through the Utility is the top end downstairs Shower Room, with w.c., hand basin and shower. The downstairs bedroom (bedroom 5) was a separate stable and now has an interesting "split level" ceiling. It can be accessed through the Utility or using it`s own stable door which leads directly out to the front. This is a double room with a 4`6" bed.

Extra Details
his holiday cottage in the New Forest has been formed from a converted Victorian Stable Block and sleeps 28 people (sleeps 28 from March). The building is full of character, having been used previously by the village primary school, before which it was in use as the name would suggest. The conversion gives you all the convenience of a modern building, with all the charm of an old stable block in the forest.
Walking along the driveway from the entrance opposite St Michaels Church, The Old Stables runs on down the hil and away from the high street. It is built with soft red brick and the roof has been re-tiled using hand made clay peg tiles. The stable setts which formed the area of hard-standing outside the original stable block have been incorporated in the renovation as a pedestrian pathway running along the edge of the building. contact us
